None. The app has no user accounts and no server of its own. We do not collect, store, transmit or sell personal information, and we have no ability to identify you.
With your permission, the app reads your device's location while the app is open, to show which Wildlife Management Unit you are standing in, to draw your position on the map, to record a breadcrumb trail if you turn that on, and to measure the distance to a pin you are navigating to. This happens entirely on your device. Your coordinates are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. The app never requests background location. You can decline or revoke the permission in your device settings at any time; the rest of the app keeps working.
All of this is held in the app's own private storage on your phone. Deleting the app deletes it. We never receive a copy.
The app makes two kinds of outbound request. Current weather, from Open-Meteo. That request contains the geographic centre of the wildlife management zone you are viewing — not your position — and is used only to display current wind, temperature and pressure. Open-Meteo receives your IP address as an unavoidable part of any internet request, and states that it does not track users; see the Open-Meteo terms. All other data in the app is bundled with the app itself and works with no connection at all.
Grazing lease details. When you tap a specific grazing lease on the map, the app asks the Government of Alberta's recreational access service for that one lease — the same request their own public map makes — and displays the holder's contact details and the access conditions. That information belongs to the province and is not sent anywhere else. It is never downloaded in bulk — only the individual leases you open are ever requested, and the request contains nothing but that lease's public disposition number.
Because hunters lose signal exactly where they need this most, the leases you have opened are kept on your phone so they still work offline. The store holds at most the 200 most recently opened leases, lives only in your app's own private storage, is never uploaded, and is deleted when you delete the app. Nothing is stored for a lease you have never opened.
The national park outlines shown in the app are derived from the Government of Alberta's own Green Area / White Area coverage, which excludes federal land. They are a hunting reference, not a legal survey; treat the posted boundary on the ground as the authority.
On iPhone and iPad, map imagery is provided by Apple Maps under Apple's own privacy terms. On Android, map imagery is provided by the Google Maps SDK, which is subject to the Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive any information from either mapping provider.
The app shows public land boundaries so you know what you are standing on. It does not store or publish private landowner names, addresses or phone numbers, and it holds no database of leaseholders. Where a grazing lease requires you to contact the leaseholder, the app requests that one lease's published contact details from the province at the moment you ask for them and shows them; a copy of the leases you personally opened is kept on your phone so they still work with no signal, and nothing is kept for leases you never opened. The province stays the publisher of record. The provincial range officer names and office contacts shown for rangeland districts are published by the Government of Alberta as business contact information for public enquiries.
The app is intended for licensed hunters and is not directed at children under 13. We knowingly collect no information from anyone, including children.
WMU Insights contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Alberta: Wildlife Management Unit boundaries, hunter harvest reports, the special licence harvest report, the Alberta Guide to Hunting Regulations, and public land mapping (grazing dispositions, Public Land Use Zones, public land recreation areas, Green/White Area, reserve and military boundaries, and rangeland districts). This app is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Government of Alberta. It is a reference tool, not a legal authority — always verify seasons, boundaries and rules in the current official guide before you hunt.
